Having always related to the world around me in an incredibly visual way, drawing and art became a passion of mine from a very early age and continues to be an integral part of my life.

About the Artist

Oliver Hilton

The influence of Oliver Hilton’s surroundings in East Anglia pervades in the gestural strokes and colours that infiltrate his work. The flat, coastal plains of the Fenlands, which give way to wide expansive skies, are a core inspiration to Hilton. His colour palette ranges from bright and energising to subtle and subdued, a reflection of the moment and atmosphere captured in each artwork. The distinctive style of these expressionistic landscapes has developed into Hilton’s more recent body of abstract work, whereby starting with oil paint, Hilton takes us on a visual journey through areas of diffused light and shadow, punctuated with mark-making using a spontaneous range of medium including oil pastel, acrylics, pencil, cold wax, even household oil paint; the resulting work is at once invigorating and calming in its effect.

Hilton studied at Newcastle School of Art and Design and continues to experiment with his artistic style. His work is collected internationally.

Biographies

Kate Dolan

Kate Dolan

Inspired by colours, forms and vistas found in the natural world, Kate Dolan is drawn to views of vast open spaces that occur both naturally and through the manipulation of man. Through her paintings, Dolan translates her emotional responses and experiences of the world. The loose spontaneity of brush strokes and gradually layered textures that she creates is sometimes interrupted with precise and determined forcefulness.
Fipé Gouge Merrall

Fipé Gouge Merrall

The monumental forms that Gouge-Merrall renders strike us as almost dream-like and metaphysical, their facial features obscured against the blocks and pools of colour that act as stages, props, and backdrops for each figure. The artist’s memories of moments and places inform the colours, textures and mood conveyed in each artwork, from bursts of bright colour reminiscent of her home city of Sydney to the forest greens and glacial blues that can be found in the landscapes of Sweden.
Jemma Day

Jemma Day

Using water-based oil paint, with wholly unique effect, Jemma Day paints directly onto wall-mounted canvases in her tranquil and light-filled studio overlooking the narrow Lanes of Brighton, usually working on multiple pieces simultaneously to maintain the momentum that creates such energetic paintings.
