Having always related to the world around me in an incredibly visual way, drawing and art became a passion of mine from a very early age and continues to be an integral part of my life.
About the Artist

The influence of Oliver Hilton’s surroundings in East Anglia pervades in the gestural strokes and colours that infiltrate his work. The flat, coastal plains of the Fenlands, which give way to wide expansive skies, are a core inspiration to Hilton. His colour palette ranges from bright and energising to subtle and subdued, a reflection of the moment and atmosphere captured in each artwork. The distinctive style of these expressionistic landscapes has developed into Hilton’s more recent body of abstract work, whereby starting with oil paint, Hilton takes us on a visual journey through areas of diffused light and shadow, punctuated with mark-making using a spontaneous range of medium including oil pastel, acrylics, pencil, cold wax, even household oil paint; the resulting work is at once invigorating and calming in its effect.
Hilton studied at Newcastle School of Art and Design and continues to experiment with his artistic style. His work is collected internationally.
